Changes in attributes of soils subjected to fallow in desertification hotspot Rev. Ciênc. Agron.
Ferreira,Mirele Paula da Silva; Artur,Adriana Guirado; Queiroz,Hermano Melo; Romero,Ricardo Espíndola; Costa,Mirian Cristina Gomes.
ABSTRACT Soils in semi-arid regions have been degraded by overgrazing, which reduces the production capacity and, in certain situations, leads to desertification. An alternative to recover degraded areas is the fallow period, which works through the resilience of the soil itself, increasing the supply of organic matter and improving soil physical properties. Thus, the objective of this study was to test the hypothesis that 14-year grazing exclusion improves soil physical and chemical attributes in degraded areas under desertification. The study was conducted in Irauçuba, Ceará State, Brazil. The experimental design was completely randomized, in a 4 x 2 factorial scheme corresponding to four areas and two managements (overgrazing and fallow), with four...

Foliar fertilization on the production of grafted dwarf cashew seedlings Ciência e Agrotecnologia
Santos,Ricardo Miranda dos; Serrano,Luiz Augusto Lopes; Taniguchi,Carlos Alberto Kenji; Artur,Adriana Guirado; Natale,William; Corrêa,Márcio Cleber de Medeiros.
ABSTRACT Foliar fertilization is an important agricultural technique that has stood out for its ease of use and can contribute to the production of high-quality and -vigor cashew seedlings. The objective of this study was to evaluate the effect of foliar fertilizer rates and time of application on ‘BRS 226’ dwarf cashew seedlings after grafting. The experiment was carried out in a completely randomized design, with five treatments and 24 replicates. Each experimental unit consisted of one plant. The commercial product (NPK 20-20-20) was used at the recommended rate for fruit crops in general, 2.5 g L-1. Foliar fertilizer applications at 45 and 60 days after grafting (DAG), with 50% of the recommended rate (1.25 g L-1), or at 80 DAG, with 100% of the...

Root system characteristics of Marandu palisadegrass supplied with nitrogen and magnesium rates R. Bras. Zootec.
Garcez,Tiago Barreto; Megda,Marcio Mahmoud; Artur,Adriana Guirado; Monteiro,Francisco Antonio.
The development of root system of forage grasses is influenced by the supply of mineral nutrients. The experiment was carried out in a greenhouse in Piracicaba, São Paulo State, with the objective of evaluating the effect of nitrogen and magnesium rates on dry mass yield, total length and surface, specific length and surface, and concentrations of nitrogen, magnesium, calcium and potassium in the root system of Brachiaria brizantha Stapf. cv. Marandu. It was studied five rates of nitrogen (2, 9, 16, 23 and 30 mmol L-1) and five rates of magnesium (0.05, 0.70, 1.35, 2.00 and 2.65 mmol L-1) in nutrient solutions in an incomplete 5² factorial arrangement, which resulted in the following combinations: 2/0.05; 2/1.35; 2/2.65; 9/0.70; 9/2.00; 16/0.05; 16/1.35;...

Water use efficiency of marandu palisadegrass as affected by nitrogen and sulphur rates Rev. Ciênc. Agron.
Artur,Adriana Guirado; Garcez,Tiago Barreto; Monteiro,Francisco Antonio.
This study aimed to evaluate the effects of combination of nitrogen and sulphur fertilizations on water consumption and water use efficiency by marandu palisadegrass (Brachiaria brizantha cv. Marandu). The experiment was carried out in a greenhouse, using a Typic Quartzipsamment. Five nitrogen rates (0; 100; 200; 300 and 400 mg dm-3) were combined with five sulphur rates (0; 10; 20; 30 and 40 mg dm-3) in a fractionated 5² factorial, with four replications. The leaf area was harvested three times at intervals of approximately 30 days. Soil moisture was maintained at 70% of capacity retention through a self-irrigating system. There was an increase in consumption and water use efficiency by the forage grass due to the supply of nitrogen and sulphur. Nitrogen...
